Cold Weather Shelter
The Southside Winter Emergency Shelter opens when temperatures drop below 35 degrees for more than three consecutive hours. This is the threshold for both our daytime and nighttime warming shelter.
Our gym holds 40 cots and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Pets will be allowed if they are leashed and kept with owner and there is no aggressive behavior.
Shelter Schedule
Shelter opens when temperatures below 35 degrees for three hours.
4pm: Free evening meal served
7pm: Overnight shelter opens
8am: Breakfast is served
9am: Shelter closes for cleaning
12pm: If freezing persists, shelter may reopen.
How to Help
Southside needs volunteers to help with meals, financial donations, Amazon wishlist items, and in-kind donations to help as we host our neighbors. Please contact our office to volunteer for the shelter or to arrange drop off of in kind donations.
Items needed: hats, gloves, coats, hand warmers, blankets, snacks, and paper goods.
