Cold Weather Shelter

Every year, Southside opens our doors to those in need of emergency shelter due to extreme weather conditions. Our gym is suitable to fit 40 cots (with extra capacity as needed) and will be on a first come, first serve basis.

The Southside Winter Emergency Shelter plans to open when temperatures drop below 35 degrees overnight for more than 3 hours. People seeking shelter will be asked to fill out a registration form and complete a quick health check. Pets will be allowed leashed and kept with owner as long as there is no aggressive behavior. For families and special cases, Southside may provide an overnight hotel if funding is available.

Shelter Schedule

Shelter opens when temperatures below 35 degrees for three hours.

4pm: Free evening meal served
7pm: Overnight shelter opens
8am: Breakfast is served
9am: Shelter closes for cleaning
12noon: If freezing persists, shelter may reopen.

How to Help
